What is Sand-tray Therapy
Sand-tray Therapy is a gentle, creative approach to explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences when words aren’t enough.
At Coastal Hearts Counselling, Sand-tray Therapy offers a safe, respectful space for children, teens, and adults to express themselves using miniature objects in a tray of sand. It’s not about artistic skill or making the “right” picture — it’s about what emerges, what it means to you, and how we work through it together.
Whether you're processing anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, or life transitions, especially if you feel “stuck” in talk therapy, Sand-tray Therapy can support healing and insight in a deeply personal way.
What to Expect
You’ll be invited to choose miniatures that speak to your feelings, thoughts, memories, or current challenges. These are placed in the sand in a way that feels meaningful to you. Together, we reflect on what your scene may represent — sometimes clearly, sometimes symbolically. There is no wrong way to do Sand-tray.
